TOTEM GT ELECTRIC: THE ELECTRIC EVOLUTION OF THE ICONIC ALFA ROMEO GIULIA GT
Totem Automobili presents a handcrafted tribute to the legendary 1960s Alfa Romeo Giulia GT, reimagined with a 600-horsepower electric powertrain. A project that blends cutting-edge engineering with timeless Italian design, bringing a true motorsport icon into the era of zero-emission performance.
First unveiled in 1965, the Giulia GT has long been a symbol etched into the hearts of true Alfisti. Today, that same icon undergoes a radical transformation—refined aesthetically, but above all revolutionized mechanically—delivering state-of-the-art performance with a fully electric soul.
A handcrafted vision by Totem Automobili
Conceived by automotive designer Riccardo Quaggio, Totem Automobili was born from the idea of giving a second life to Italy’s most iconic sports cars. By assembling a team of highly specialized professionals—mostly based in Italy—the company set out to reinterpret vehicles from the golden age of racing through restomod projects that merge innovative technologies with traditional craftsmanship.
This philosophy is perfectly embodied in the Totem GT Electric, where advanced engineering seamlessly coexists with the pure, timeless lines of a classic Alfa Romeo.
600 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of instant torque
After several years of meticulous development, the first Totem GT Electric was finally delivered to its owner, ceremoniously parked in the garage like a true work of art.
Produced in a strictly limited run of just 20 units, the GT Electric retains the visual DNA of the historic Giulia GT while radically redefining what lies beneath the bodywork. Its electric motor delivers 600 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.
Up to 500 km of range, perfectly in tune with the times
Purists may raise an eyebrow at the absence of octane and exhaust notes, but electrification is now an unavoidable chapter in automotive evolution.
While Totem Automobili is also developing a restomod powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, the GT Electric embraces a fully electric architecture. Power comes from an 81 kWh battery pack weighing 352 kg, contributing to a total vehicle weight of just 1,300 kg.
The battery offers a driving range between 400 and 500 km and can be recharged via AC charging up to 7 kW or DC fast charging up to 90 kW.
Carbon-fiber monocoque and re-sculpted aesthetics
The car is built around a carbon-fiber monocoque developed using selected elements from an original Giulia GT chassis. Dimensions measure 4,274.5 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width and 1,316 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm.
After more than 8,000 hours of work by 32 artisans, the entire bodywork was rebuilt entirely in carbon fiber, weighing just 95 kg. The result is an ultra-light structure with perfectly smooth surfaces, enhancing both performance and visual purity.
Every detail—from the front end to the door handles, mirrors and lighting units—has been redesigned to create a seamless dialogue between heritage and modern Totem design codes. Braking is handled by a Brembo system, while 18-inch wheels are fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires.
Interior simplicity, refined to the essentials
Handcrafted in Totem’s workshops in Marcon, near Venice, the interior reflects a philosophy of elegant simplicity. Leather upholstery, carbon-fiber seats and aluminum details define a cockpit that feels both contemporary and authentic.
Leather trimming extends to the front luggage compartment, offering 80 liters of capacity, complemented by an additional 150 liters in the rear trunk.
The dashboard features two analog gauges, while modern yet discreet comforts are seamlessly integrated: a sophisticated anti-theft system, electric windows, air conditioning, keyless ignition and a vintage-inspired infotainment system.
The price of an electric dream
The price for this electrified masterpiece is €500,000. One example has already been sold—leaving just 19 units available. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this is not merely a car, but a statement: the past, remastered for the future.
